ACN Webinar - Friday 20 November 2020

Creating acoustic friendly environments

in existing buildings.

Emma Greenland - Anderson Acoustics

Peter Rogers - Sustainable Acoustics

Shane Cryer - Ecophon

Time; 8.15 - 9.15am

Increased understanding of the benefits that come with a good acoustic environment has led the design community to reimagine many existing spaces, making them much more congenial to living, working and learning.

Our ACN webchat will broadcast from one of these reimagined spaces, the Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium, which has installed a new interactive exhibition all themed around sound, hearing and vibration. This STEM centre of excellence has installed a new interactive exhibition, themed around sound, hearing and vibration.

The museum has achieved a long-held ambition to improve the noisy, and sometimes overwhelming, environment created by their existing, unique pyramid-shaped building to become truly inclusive. The newly installed, state-of-the-art acoustic solutions have reduced the ambient noise level and provide an aesthetically pleasing environment for visitors.

Join us as we broadcast live from the museum as we discuss:

  • Retrofitting acoustic solutions in existing buildings

  • Speech intelligibility and reverberation

  • What regulations & guidance do we need to follow?

  • Where can it all go wrong?

  • Can we create inclusive environments in existing spaces?
