Susan Anderton

For over 25 years, Susan has worked across many industry sectors including construction and property. In the past 15 years, Susan has worked with main contractors, architects, engineers and cost consultants to support them in preparing winning strategies for tender submissions in public sector procurement - including health, regeneration, housing and education.

 

More recently Susan worked with a major contractor to bid for a significant scheme of works on the P22 framework. She understands the challenges and frustrations we all face as part of public sector procurement, whether client or bidder, and how the process needs to improve to make it a more enjoyable and cost effective experience all round.

 

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Susan's unique approach is giving bid advice and interview skills training to multi-disciplinary design and construction teams as part of their bid process for significant tenders and frameworks. She has skills to identify an organisation's competitive advantage and brand proposition to ensure it meets the needs of the client. Whether bidding for a major framework or competing within an existing framework, Susan guides businesses on how to build a strong team and present that winning pitch.

Russell Richardson

Russell has worked in acoustics since 1992, initially undertaking research for Celestion Loudspeakers and Philips Electronics and then in commercial consultancy for several years before co-founding RBA Acoustics in 2002.  RBA has since grown to be one of the largest independent acoustics consultancies in the UK, working on projects around the world.

 

He is a contributing author of the Association of Noise Consultants’ Good Practice Guide for Schools and the companion guide for Building Bulletin 93: Acoustics of Schools - a design guide.  He has served on the board of the Association of Noise Consultants as both Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer.  He remains a member of the ANC Certification Committee and is the Chief Examiner for the ANC Registration Scheme. 

 

He is Chairman of the Robust Details Inspectorate and the Hon. Secretary of the Institute of Acoustics, sitting on the Executive board and the governing Council.

Sarah is director of her London-based architectural practice which she founded in 1994. Her work is acknowledged as a pioneering influencein British Architecture. Specialising in exploring ecological solutions, her practice has designed buildings for the educational, community, masterplanning, cultural and housing sectors, in particular specialist housing, and has won many awards for its work. Between 1997 and 2016 Sarah was Professor of Architecture at the University of Sheffield where she led the DWELL research project designing exemplary neighbourhoods and housing for older people.

Clare Murray

A champion for sustainability, Clare has extensive experience of designing new buildings and retrofitting existing buildings – all of which have excellent environmental credentials – by taking and encouraging a holistic approach to development.

 

She oversees all projects at Levitt Bernstein from concept through to implementation and post-occupancy, including the development of the practice’s sustainability policy and methodology. She advises on the environmental strategy for every project; taking a creative but realistic approach, seeking to exploit the particular opportunities presented by each project whilst ensuring good all-round performance. In doing so, she aims to balance the experience of the end user with the initial and ongoing implications for the client/landlord and the long-term impact of climate change.

 

Clare has also contributed to a range of research work, articles and publications, campaigning for sustainability to be a priority throughout the design process.

Jonathan Manser
The Manser Practice
 

Jonathan has over thirty years of experience in the design and management of large-scale commercial and residential projects. He supervises the design teams within the studio and is skilled in creating design solutions that are appropriate to the nature and constraints of each job. Some of the key projects with which he is currently involved with are a PRS development in Wembley and a mixed-use, residential-led scheme including a cruise terminal in Greenwich.  Previous projects include Heathrow Hilton T4, Umoja House Dar es Salaam and The Great Eastern Hotel.  

 

He has also played a key role in projects which were a little more outside the box with Snoozebox, a hotel concept inside 40ft shipping containers, Yotel, a ‘pod’ design which could be economically mass produced and is both stylish and hard wearing, Vanke Pod, and Microliving, micro-flats’ which would appeal to young professionals working in the city.  The project has just won the WAN Urban Challenge: London Housing Competition 2017.

 

His expertise in design development, the technology of building and cost-effective detailing is a guiding force in the work of The Manser Practice.

He is regularly invited to act as an awards assessor, including for the RIBA, and as European Hotel Design Awards Chairman of Judges.

Kathy Bagster

Kathy Bagster is a construction professional with a background in mechanical engineering with over 20 years' industry experience.

She has spent the last 20 years managing projects, writing and assessing bids, tenders, PQQ’s and expressions of interest for clients, design consultancies and main contractors.

These include single stage and two stage tenders for both new build and refurbishment projects through to major investment related projects and national frameworks. 

In the past two years she has procured and assessed small and large projects including a £450m and £170m development partner tender. 

Inaddition to bid management, project management and procurement, she has an in depth knowledge of business development and marketing strategy having worked for Morgan Sindall London and playing a major role in growing their turnover from £6m per annum to £80m in 3 years.

She has worked in a number of sectors including education, commercial and healthcare, and has a clear understanding of client and stakeholder drivers to ensure a tailored solution is both adopted and delivered.

Kathy was also voted as chairperson for London Constructing Excellence Club in 2014 having served on the committee for 3 years.

 
Kristina Rozynski

Kristina joined Cullinan Studio as a qualified architect in 1999 and has since worked across a broad range of sectors at all stages from project viability appraisals through to POE of completed buildings. She has particular strengths in community consultation, knowledge of the planning process and working with existing buildings. Through her early stage project experience, she has consolidated her skills in working closely with clients and wider stakeholders for design briefing.

 

Kristina is committed to helping clients achieve sustainable solutions to their needs. Evidence of her passion for social sustainability is her work with Repowering London in setting up a co-operative where she lives in Lambeth with the council, the local school and residents to develop community ownership of renewable energy generation. 

 

Kristina leads on our office marketing strategies with a focus on developing new and long term client relationships. She is a keen supporter of the Sorrell Foundation Saturday Club programme and has organised successful weekend masterclasses to engage young people with their creativity.

Peter Rogers

Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics and a Chartered Engineer. Peter has over 20 years’ experience delivering noise and vibration solutions on a wide variety of projects. He began his career in Local Authority and therefore has a good understanding of what they need, and where liaison is concerned. He then moved to consultancy and specialises in Building Acoustics and Environmental Noise and Vibration control. He has worked on prestigious projects from the Millennium Stadium, Wimbledon Centre Court, O2, Olympia, Guys & St Thomas Hospital, Olympic Park Licensing and numerous schools to name a few.  With Willmott Dixon he has been involved in a number of projects over the years, including Heartlands School,  WWF HQ Woking, Material Science Metallurgy Building for the Cambridge University and Giltspur Street London, which is next to St Barts Hospital. He is now the Managing Director of Sustainable acoustics and remains an active engineer.

Ed is Head of Sustainability at Elementa Consulting, a leading ‘Deep Green Engineering’ practice. In December 2016 he became the first Fitwel Ambassador in Europe and delivered Europe’s first Fitwel Certified workplace at Elementa’s London office. He is an advisor to the newly launched MSc in Health, Wellbeing and Sustainable Buildings at UCL and is jointly leading the British Council for Offices “Wellness Matters” research project that is building a roadmap for implementing health and wellbeing across the building life cycle.

Gill Wynne-Williams is a landscape architect, founder and managing director of Wynne-Williams Associates. Her practice works across healthcare, education and residential sectors as well as having a portfolio of open space projects across London and the South East. Her recent experience in working with an Open Spaces Trust and her involvement with Lottery funded landscape projects has developed her expertise in making external spaces sustainable through design and activity planning.

She is chair of the Landscape Institute Professional Review Group overseeing the BA and MA courses at Writtle University College and is an occasional lecturer in design and professional practice at the college.

As the Founder of Leesman, Tim sought to offer the property market the first truly independent, unified and standardized pre and post occupancy evaluation tool.  He started his career in 1991 as a designer in the gritty world of transport design. By 2003, Tim had moved away from the front line of design, having developed a greater interest in the business strategy of workplace. In 2006, he joined Swiss furniture giant Vitra as Director of Workplace Strategy, commissioning several milestone research projects. By 2009 he was working as an independent advisor to several leading global organisations, advising leadership teams on the alignment of their workplace strategies. This led to the exploration and development of new models, tools and theories and ultimately to the founding of Leesman in 2010.  The Leesman Index is now the largest independent workplace effectiveness database containing over a quarter of a million employee responses. As CEO, Tim is responsible for the creative and strategic development of the Leesman brand in the UK and internationally, and for exploring the opportunities to develop parallel focused products for the Higher Education and Healthcare markets.​

With skills and experience that centre on helping education organisations get the best from their building stock, Steve has over 30 years’ experience of working with all sectors of education.  This has given him an understanding of the pressures estates needs can create on both scant resources and an establishment’s management.  He was the Managing Director of a London Architects practice for many years running teams large and small on many regeneration, improvement and new build projects.

As Managing Director of Quadpro the Estates Management Software provider for the past 3 years, Steve now delivers answers to estates issues by providing the management of built asset projects ranging from modifications and extensions to whole site provision often including the creation of innovative software driven asset management packages.

Many of his clients utilise the Quadpro system to run their facilities and get best value from their revenue and capital spends.  His expertise in project and programme management, client liaison and asset management analysis can often work with the system to solve estates issues.

His education sector clients have included Oundle School, Taunton School, Orley Farm School, Harrow FE College, The Billericay School, Cobham Free school and L B Lambeth.

Paul is a Partner at Synergy Construction and Property Consultants LLP and leads both the Project Management and Health and Safety departments.

Paul has project managed numerous new build, regeneration, conservation and refurbishment projects in both the public and private sectors.  He has worked on a wide range of projects including listed buildings, schools, hotels, historic royal palaces and security sensitive establishments.

Paul’s portfolio includes; the Bath Abbey Footprint Project, Hadspen House - Conversion of Grade II* House into Hotel, various projects at Tonbridge School as part of their £60 million Masterplan,  School Expansion Programme for London Borough of Merton, Sutton and Richmond and  facilities at Sevenoaks School including their Performing Arts Building and Science Centre.

 
Stephanie Williamson

Stephanie is an NHS leader with a clinical background who has worked at a senior level in operations, transformation, programme management and capital projects. She is passionate about evidence based design, the healing environment and – most importantly – the patient experience. She has a Masters in Leadership for Health & Social Care, a postgraduate qualification in Inclusive Environments and is a graduate of the NHS London Next Generation Director Programme.

 

In 2014 Stephanie became a board member of Architects for Health, aiming to ensure that the organisation gives voice to anyone campaigning for better healthcare environments, regardless of their professional background.

 

Stephanie is currently deputy director of development at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust leading a substantial programme to completely remodel the site. There she has implemented a co-design process to ensure the vision and requirements of young people, families and staff at the hospital are at the heart of the design brief for future developments.

In her spare time she campaigns on twitter to improve the quality of waiting spaces in healthcare.

Rob is passionate about the company and leads from the front, ensuring hands on delivery by Director led projects. Qualified Party Wall Surveyor and Chartered Environmentalist, Access Auditor, skilled in M & E services. 

Rob has specialist knowledge in Fire Safety and delivering large complex buildings, complicated mixed use projects. His key goal is top end service, no matter the project size or complexity at a competitive cost. Rob sits on the CABE interview panel for new member candidates Nationwide.

Brian Gale has been Director of Policy and Campaigns at the National Deaf Children’s Society for the past 10 years. Prior to joining the NDCS he was a senior manager in a local authority with a responsibility for education inclusion services, children social care services and youth offending team. He has a particular interest in inclusion of children and young people with additional needs and as part of this how buildings can promote their achievement and well being.  He started his career in the 1970s as a transport and land use planner.

Mark is the Education Practice Leader at HKS.  For nearly 40 years, he has led planning and design efforts for public and private K12 organizations.  He has served as school board member, and in regional leadership positions at CEFPI (now A4LE). He has regularly presented and published on such topics as “Flexible Space and Place” and “Sensory Perception in Architecture”.

Jane is a director within the WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff’s structural engineering business, which has significant high-rise experience in the UK and globally, including buildings such as the hard and The Freedom Tower in New York. Her career includes many residential developments such as Merchant Square at Paddington Basin, Shard Place at London Bridge and Aykon Tower in Nine Elms. These typically include high-rise towers and deep basements and draw on the latest analysis software and 3d design tools as well as techniques such as top-down basement construction to achieve design efficiency and shorten programmes. Jane has also developed and implemented volumetric modular design for high-rise buildings and her paper capturing this research and development was published in 2010.

Wayne Head is Director of Curl La Tourelle Head. His passion for green architecture saw him lead a team in renewing Islington’s secondary schools, delivering 20% on site renewables, a precedent in London.

 

The Norwich ‘Big House for the Arts’ project achieved BREEAM Outstanding and win a number of awards.

He spent a year in the Himalayas working with the Indian Institute of Technology completing a green campus at 5000m!

 

He rides an old bike around London, unwinding by clogging his trainers with mud on the Thames at low tide, getting metaphorical blood under his nails 'larking' for pieces of ceramics, jewellery and medieval buildings....this is where he dreamt of a tidal powered School.

He is leading one of the largest regeneration capital programmes in London covering housing regeneration, schools, adult care, leisure and public realm. Southwark is progressing a new development programme across a range of up to 30 sites to provide new homes and community facilities, including mixed use development for housing and schools . Bruce has held leadership roles in London local government for 25 years for Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth and Southwark and has a long background in the schools’ sector including PFI, BSF and academies, most notably being the Project Director for the 2015 Stirling Prize winning Burntwood School.

Jiten Chauhan is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Partner at Rider Levett Bucknall with over 19 years’ experience adept to working across a range of projects and sectors with particular focus on Education, Health, Residential (both Private and Affordable), Commercial and Leisure projects.

 

Jiten has gained a detailed knowledge, understanding and implementation of various procurement routes for differing types of construction projects including projects with complex delivery challenges to deliver on time and within budget. Jiten has also supported Local Authorities procure bespoke supply chain frameworks, which has involved implementing robust tender documentation in order to mitigate risks for both the client and contracting organisations.

 

Key strengths include obtaining a good understanding of each individual cients requirements and aims, providing clear communication of these to other members of the project team including the main contractors and suppliers. Jiten is currently working on a number of projects including mixed use Education led projects.

After University, James Hodgson worked in the Port industry in London before joining Local Government where he worked in a number of consultancy roles He was principal policy adviser to a London Borough Council before setting up his consultancy and publishing firm.

 

He has a life long interest in education having written a book on Local Management of Schools and has worked for Local Authorities as well as schools.

He has served on a number of school governing bodies (both primary and secondary) and is currently chair of the governing body of a junior school. Professionally he is presently School Investment Adviser in LB Barking and Dagenham.

Stephen has been involved in the Sustainability movement for over 20 years, running his own sustainable interiors practice, lecturing in ecodesign at Universities and Colleges across the UK and working for environmental charity Bioregional based at the acclaimed ecovillage BedZED in south London. Stephen has experience in supporting and delivering projects in sustainable construction, energy efficiency, community solar, reuse and recycling and sustainable transport.

Denize Halton has been Pre-Construction Manager at Neilcott for almost 9 years.  Reporting directly to the Board of Directors Denize is responsible for sourcing and developing all work opportunities across the Group.  I oversee and manage each bid submitted by Neilcott with a particular focous on two-stage, framework and design and build bids.  Denize has worked within the Construction Industry for 15 years.  Previous to this Denize worked with Civil Engineering Contractor McNicholas Construction having held several roles in surveying, project management and lastly business development.

Daniel is an Associate building physics engineer in the London office and has a broad range of environmental design and stimulation experience relating to energy performance, thermal comfort, daylighting, and facade design. This includes the use of software to stimulate aspects of both internal and external environments from available climate data and has delivered on a macro and micro level (microclimate studies, masterplanning, facade design, etc).
 
These studies can be used to underpin the design of passive and low energy strategies to deliver energy efficient and low-carbon solutions at a scale from individual buildings up to master plans. Further experience includes energy and utility analysis of existing buildings and compliance assessments. He is a Low Carbon Consultant and is accredited in the use of IES VE for conducting energy compliance studies in accordance with UK regulations.
 
Recent work has increasingly focused Daniel's skills in tool development for building physics applications. Bespoke and generic design tools regarding building form and facade design optimisation have been created and fully utilised on key Buro Happold projects. In the majority of cases, the parameters being optimised are glazing area, external shading, fabric properties, and facade orientation for high rise towers (office zones with side aspect) located in extreme environments.
